At the end of Thursday’s meeting of the Bolesławiec County Council, Łukasz Jaźwiec, head of the county-owned PKS Bolesławiec company, spoke and referred to the words “Jelenia Góra” mentioned by Platforma Samorządowa councillor Jadwiga Bobek. The PKS president said:
We spoke at the previous session. The councillor proposed that a service to Jelenia Góra was needed because she herself travels there. I asked how often the councillor travelled to Jelenia. She replied: once.
And he added:
Of course, I declare that perhaps in the autumn we will test a Saturday bus service to Jelenia Góra. Then we will see what the situation actually looks like.
The head of the county-owned company stressed that on weekdays there is one direct service every day and several connecting services. He then added: – It was better organised, but unfortunately PKS Jelenia Góra changed its timetable without consulting us.
But he also noted: – I think that is a sufficient number.
A discussion broke out in the room. Łukasz Jaźwiec replied: – This is public transport, not private transport; we cannot take every person wherever they want at every hour.
He also added:
I receive no indications at the company that anyone wants to travel by this bus to Jelenia Góra (this concerned a weekend connection – note by istotne.pl), and certainly not on a scale that would show we could actually launch this service.
He also stressed:
We receive many petitions. Sometimes there are several dozen signatures. Recently, at the request of the municipality and residents, we launched a service across the county for two weeks. For two weeks, a bus ran every day and carried... zero passengers.
So what is the situation? Is there really a problem with bus services to Jelenia Góra, or not? We invite you to discuss it.
