On April 11, at the nest on the grounds of the Klekusiowo Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, two female storks, Kropeczka and Kora, took part in a bloody fight over the nest. One of the three eggs Kora had already laid was destroyed. We described the whole story on the istotne.pl portal on Wednesday, April 12..

The stork Kleks watched the entire situation and defended two of the three eggs remaining in the nest. After the fight and driving Kora away, Kropeczka calmed down and stayed with Kleks in the nest. Meanwhile, the stork sat on the eggs and did not let Kropeczka near them, perhaps fearing that the female stork might destroy the remaining two as well.

Meanwhile, after two days, Kropeczka accepted the two remaining eggs, which were not hers, and began incubating them as if they were her own. Kleks can now leave the nest temporarily without concern, for example to find food. The eggs are now safe under Kropeczka’s care.

“This is unbelievable—Kropeczka is incubating the eggs laid by Kora, Kleks’s former mate,” we read on Klekusiowo’s profile.

Kropeczka began incubating the eggs left by Kleks’s former partner.
