After we published our article, the Polish Police issued a statement, and today the United States Army did as well. Below is the Polish translation of the English statement.

Statement

On 1 April, Saturday evening, United States soldiers, including at least 5 men and 1 woman from the U.S. Army, were involved in an incident in the market square in Boleslawiec. During the incident, the American soldiers interacted with Boleslawiec police officers.

Earlier, the soldiers had been at a venue in Boleslawiec where alcohol was served. The soldiers involved in this incident are not from the base in Boleslawiec; they are stationed in Trzebien. They are subject to restrictions for the duration of the investigation.

The United States Army command is working closely with local authorities in this investigation and will hold the soldiers accountable for their misconduct.

We would like to thank the local law enforcement officers for the way they brought the situation under control. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work on this matter. (...).

4th Infantry Division Statement Regarding U.S. Soldiers Incident

BOLESLAWIEC, POLAND – On 1 April, on Saturday evening, U.S. Soldiers, to include at least 5 males and 1 female from the U.S. Army, were involved in an incident in the Boleslawiec city square. The American Soldiers were seen interacting with the Boleslawiec police department officers during the time of the incident.

The Soldiers were previously at an establishment in Boleslawiec where alcohol was served. The Soldiers involved in this incident were not from the military base here in Boleslawiec, and are stationed in Trzebien. They are under restriction pending the investigation. The U.S. military leadership are working closely with the local authorities to investigate, and will hold the Soldiers involved accountable for any wrongdoing.
