In the period before Christmas, police officers from the station in Nowogrodziec, thanks to their ongoing cooperation with foresters, recovered a mini excavator worth PLN 100,000.
The traces found on the equipment and the place where the machine was discovered indicated that it had been brought there on another vehicle and hidden in a difficult-to-access location. The most time-consuming task was determining who owned the excavator and confirming that a theft had taken place.
The resourceful officers reached a distributor of such equipment in Poland and then contacted the machine’s owner. The man was extremely surprised because he had not even known that his property had been stolen.
It turned out that the victim was from Świdnica County and was carrying out renovation work on the Bolesławiec section of the A18 motorway.
The mini excavator was returned to its owner, while the police are currently taking steps to identify and apprehend the perpetrator or perpetrators of the crime.
