Erectile dysfunction remedies – how to use them and what to expect?
Erection problems can have various causes. In many cases, over-the-counter erectile dysfunction medicines may help. However, it is worth consulting a doctor beforehand to determine the cause of the erectile dysfunction.
How do such products work? For example, over-the-counter ActiGra Forte erectile dysfunction tablets contain sildenafil. This active substance improves blood flow in the blood vessels, which translates into better erection quality. The product is intended to provide an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. Sexual stimulation is necessary to achieve an erection.
One ActiGra Forte tablet contains 50 mg of sildenafil. This is the maximum dose available without a prescription. ActiGra containing 25 mg of this substance is also available. Patients who have already used tablets with a dose of 50 mg or more should choose ActiGra Forte straight away. They may also choose it if ActiGra with a 25 mg dose did not produce a sufficient erection.
The medicine should be taken approximately 60 minutes before planned intercourse. The time after which the product starts working is usually between 30 minutes and one hour. It depends on the individual and other factors. If a patient swallowed the tablet after a heavy meal, they may have to wait longer for the effect. The product should not be used more than once a day. It works for up to several hours, but if an erection lasts for more than 4 hours, a doctor should be contacted.
Erectile dysfunction tablets are not always enough to deal with erectile dysfunction. It all depends on the cause of the problem.
What else works for erectile dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction can have various underlying causes. A common problem is lifestyle. It is worth introducing more physical activity – this has a positive effect on fitness and the body's overall condition. The next steps are giving up alcohol, cigarettes and recreational substances. A healthy diet is also important – one rich in vegetables and fruit.
Sometimes erectile dysfunction is a side effect of medicines being taken. It is worth discussing their effects with a doctor and, if necessary, asking for a substitute. As reported by the Polish Society of Sexual Medicine, in approximately 70–80 percent of cases, erectile dysfunction may be a preceding symptom of diseases of the heart and blood vessels, endocrine diseases, diabetes, urological and neurological diseases, and others. Once treatment begins, the problem may disappear.
Erection problems may also result from psychological conditions. These include body-image concerns, depression, anxiety disorders and chronic stress. In the case of such conditions, erectile dysfunction tablets will not help. The doctor will probably refer the patient to a sexologist or psychologist.
Before use, read the leaflet, which contains indications, contraindications, information about side effects and dosage, as well as information on using the medicinal product, or consult a doctor or pharmacist, since any medicine taken incorrectly may endanger your life or health.
