A Reader wrote to us:
I wanted to draw attention to the issue of streetlights going out in Brzeźnik. This issue concerns streetlights ONLY in one part of Brzeźnik, namely from the school towards the forest. The streetlights in this part of the village go out at around 7 a.m., while in the so-called ciaparyk and in lower Brzeźnik they remain lit much longer.
The reader writes that she reported the matter both to the village head and to the Municipal Office. She was promised that the issue would be resolved. However, this did not happen.
The person who reported the issue added:
Let us consider young people commuting to school for 8 a.m. The bus taking students to schools in Bolesławiec leaves at 7:20 a.m., which means that people living closer to the end of the village, by the forest, have to leave home at 7 a.m. to catch it, when the streetlights are not on and it is still dark outside. Someone might say: “reflectors.” Fine, reflectors are one thing, but why, when the lights go out in this part of the village, do the other two parts remain lit?
She also pointed out:
Apart from young people, it is also worth considering the children attending the local primary school. Lessons begin at 7:45 a.m., so the children have to walk in the dark to arrive on time. Let us also add that there is no pavement in the village to enable safe movement, so it is necessary to walk along the edge of the road.
Does there have to be a tragedy before someone takes an interest?
Bolesławiec municipality explains:
The administrator of the road-lighting equipment in Bolesławiec municipality is the contractor selected through a tender procedure, namely ENERGOKAB Tomasz Kabata, based in Lubań. Road lighting throughout the entire municipality is controlled by astronomical clocks.
On 6 December this year, the Municipal Office received a report concerning the need to adjust the clocks in Brzeźnik on the circuit towards the church, in the direction of the sports field. The person submitting the report indicated that the lamps came on too early (around 4 p.m.) and went out too early (around 7 a.m.). The report was immediately forwarded to the contractor (on 6 December 2022) in accordance with the contract.
The contractor provided the following information: “In the lighting cabinet supplying the reported lighting section, namely from the church towards the sports field, the astronomical clock was reset (on 9 December 2022); subsequently, the settings corresponding to the geographical longitude of our area, namely Bolesławiec municipality, were restored. By the end of the current week (16 December 2022 at the latest), all cabinets in Brzeźnik will be checked.”
The local government announces:
All circuits throughout the entire village will be adjusted.
