The incident occurred on December 11. It was recorded by our female reader, who sent us the footage with a telling caption:

Two idiots on the road.

The young people broke SEVERAL rules. Not only should they not have been riding an electric scooter on the road, but they also forced their way through an intersection, failing to yield the right of way. What is more, only ONE PERSON may ride this type of vehicle. The whole incident could have ended tragically.

As the Police Headquarters reported in the spring of this year:

Recently, electric scooters have become very popular, especially in cities. They have even acquired a shortened name—“e-scooters.”

We remind you that an electric scooter is a vehicle, and its user is a driver. This entails both privileges and obligations.

It is very important for people riding e-scooters to use the appropriate parts of the road. The driver of this vehicle is required to ride on a cycle path or in a cycle lane if they are designated for the direction in which they are traveling or intend to turn. If there is no separate cycle path or cycle lane, they should travel on a carriageway where vehicle traffic is permitted at a speed of no more than 30 km/h.

An electric scooter rider may use a sidewalk or pedestrian path only in exceptional circumstances. This is permitted only when—in accordance with the regulations—vehicles on the carriageway are traveling at a speed greater than 30 km/h and there is no separate cycle path or cycle lane. When riding an electric scooter on a sidewalk, one must travel at a speed close to that of a pedestrian, exercise particular caution, give way to pedestrians, and not obstruct their movement.
