During a morning patrol on the outskirts of Bolesławiec, officers carried out an inspection. Police officers from the Traffic Department noticed a person riding an electric scooter at high speed on a pedestrian and bicycle path.
The officers stopped the vehicle. It was being ridden by a 16-year-old resident of Bolesławiec who did not have the required authorization. His parent was called to the scene.
The police officers also decided to check the scooter’s technical capabilities. During a speed test, the speedometer installed in the vehicle showed as much as 75 km/h.
Under the regulations, the permitted speed for an electric scooter is 20 km/h. Police remind people that removing factory-installed speed restrictions can increase the risk of losing control of the vehicle.
The 16-year-old’s case will be handled by the family court.
