Guests already have access to lockers and changing rooms, where they can change before training and take a shower afterwards. They can be found in two places: in the ski room, a large space with 94 lockers, and in 31 changing rooms. Each changing room has six lockers, except for one with 12. Two people can use one locker, and the price for the entire locker ranges from 15 to 30 zlotys, depending on the season and day of the week. Groups of up to 30 people can rent an entire changing room from just 180 zlotys for the whole day.

There is also a bistro and restaurant on site. Importantly, following the example of mountain shelters, guests can warm up in the bistro, eat their own provisions, and the staff will bring them boiling water. Ski equipment rental facilities will open soon.

The facility also has an underground car park for 200 vehicles. However, it is crucial for Polana Jakuszycka that as many people as possible travel there by train. The service is operated by Koleje Dolnośląskie, which leases rolling stock from a Czech carrier. The train will soon stop at a platform that is part of the Dolnośląskie Centrum Sportu. On winter weekends, driving there and finding a parking space can be a major challenge.

The accommodation facilities are very popular as well. Their availability is falling quickly, however. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a vacant room for a weekend through the end of March. More places are available in the hostel section of the facility.

#NaPolanie events

#NaPolanie is one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Europe. It consists of a spacious stadium and biathlon shooting range, as well as the main building, which includes, among other things, all the facilities needed to organise competitions. It was officially opened at the beginning of September. The event itself attracted more than 300 participants to Jakuszyce, including representatives of the most important sports organisations, such as Adam Małysz (Polski Związek Narciarski), Joanna Badacz (Polski Związek Biathlonu) and Łukasz Wachowski (Polski Związek Piłki Nożnej).

The facility’s first official test was the Polish Biathlon Roller Ski Cup, held from 13 to 15 September. It is difficult to imagine Polana Jakuszycka without the Bieg Piastów. Its summer cycling edition was already held during the DCS’s first month of operation. The event, organised for years by the Stowarzyszenie Bieg Piastów, attracted nearly 1,000 participants to the start this year, accompanied by numerous spectators. So far, the greatest test for the new facility has been the Runmageddon League Final at Polana Jakuszycka. It is one of the country’s largest sporting events for amateurs. More than 2,000 people took part at the end of October.

The open day held for Independence Day was also very popular, and on 3 December, the Jakuszyce St Nicholas event will take place. From 12:00 to 16:00, visitors will be able to meet Santa Claus and his elves, grill sausages, take part in a family relay race and art workshops, and shoot biathlon laser rifles.

Sport will also be plentiful this winter. Several running and biathlon events are planned, including the Polish Biathlon Cup, the Polish Youth Championships, the international FIS Nordic Combined Youth Cup organised with Harrachov in the Czech Republic, the FIS Slavic Cup, as well as the Central European Cup and the Polish Senior Biathlon Championships. The event with the largest field will probably be the annual Bieg Piastów, scheduled for early March. Plans already extend to subsequent seasons. In 2024 and 2025, Polana Jakuszycka and Dolnośląskie Centrum Sportu are due to host biathlon competitions at the level of the European Youth Championships.

Students of the Szkoła Mistrzostwa Sportowego and other local schools have also been using the facility since the Dolnośląskie Centrum Sportu began operating. Young biathletes train here regularly during the week, making use of the roller-ski track and sports shooting range. As part of the “Umiem Pływać” programme, funded by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, students from grades 1–3 of schools in Szklarska Poręba also use the swimming pool.
