On Independence Day, the #NaPolanie centre was open to visitors: adults could use the shooting range and fire real biathlon weapons under the supervision of experienced instructors. Younger visitors were provided with laser weapons, which they could use free of charge. Activities were held in the sports halls at the climbing wall; visitors played badminton and table tennis, while a special obstacle course awaited the youngest.

Dolnośląskie Centrum Sportu (DSC) is a facility made available to athletes and tourists in 2022. The facility meets the requirements of the world’s ski federations and the International Biathlon Union (IBU), making it possible to organise world championship-level competitions in Jakuszyce.

The modern Dolnośląskie Centrum Sportu building, designed on an impressive scale and blending into its surroundings, naturally makes the greatest impression. The centre’s large rectangular structures, covering 12,000 m², dominate an area of almost 6 hectares, which includes asphalt roller-ski tracks, biathlon courses with a shooting range, and an 80-by-50-metre football pitch surrounded by a 200-metre running track.

The building’s façade features interesting solutions that give the structure a light appearance: it is covered with wooden beams and an intricately cut metal mesh, while the restaurant area is glazed and has exits to terraces and a grandstand. The building’s roofs are covered with a green layer of various types of vegetation.

Visitors to the Dolnośląskie Centrum Sportu building could see its infrastructure: a swimming pool, wellness centre, brine graduation tower, gyms, a sports hall for volleyball and basketball players, hotel rooms, and conference and catering facilities.

The main building also houses a Paralympic training centre, with infrastructure adapted to the needs of people with various types of disabilities. At the façade on the roller-ski track side, a mobile stand for 600 people can be set up. New cycling paths, running trails and walking routes have been created around the DCS.

The cost of building this modern facility exceeded PLN 200 million. The investor behind the new development of Polana is Dolnośląski Park Innowacji i Nauki S.A. – a public company majority-owned by the local government of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The investment aims to modernise and expand sports infrastructure intended for hosting top-level cross-country skiing competitions. It also serves as a year-round training centre for various professional sports, with wellness and Paralympic training facilities.

We believe that #NaPolanie will be where the journey of Polish male and female athletes towards medals at the world’s most important events begins.
