As reported by DUW:

Due to the new Act on Passport Documents entering into force on November 13, 2022, we inform you that it will not be possible to submit passport applications or collect completed documents on the following days:

  • November 7–10, 2022 at local passport offices in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in Bogatynia, Dzierżoniów, Głogów, Kłodzko, Lubin, Polkowice, Trzebnica and Ząbkowice Śląskie;
  • from November 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., until November 10, 2022 in Jelenia Góra, Legnica, Wałbrzych and Wrocław.

Resumption of customer service is planned for November 14, 2022. Please check the announcements on the website.

What is the reason for this interruption? Service work related to the implementation of the new passport document register system. Paper applications will be eliminated.

Will it no longer be necessary to come to the offices?

Unfortunately, it will. The client will still have to be present when submitting the application. (After all, no one else can provide their fingerprints).

The idea is that the new system should be more convenient for the client. Whether that will be the case in practice remains to be seen.
