A reader wrote to us via Facebook:
Some kind of speed camera is hanging in a tree opposite the Police station by the railway tracks.
As we managed to establish, it is certainly not a police radar. What is more, this yellow structure was attached to the tree some time ago.
Why? One hypothesis is that someone wanted to cool the ardour of all kinds of road hooligans in this way. Just as a young man recently did on a road near Słubice, as the TVP Gorzów branch prepared a report. Television:
When drivers see the bird radar, they politely slow down to 50 km/h, or perhaps even more. The yellow wooden box works. And how.
The authors of the report added:
We spoke with the creator of the bird radar. He is a young man who said that safety prefers silence, and that he himself is not seeking publicity either. But off camera he confirmed that it is a nesting box for birds. The cavity is at the back.
And they added: – And indeed, there is no regulation prohibiting the installation of yellow nesting boxes on one’s own property.
If that was the intention of the creator of this Bolesławiec “bird radar” – then chapeau bas. And we hope that it works on at least some drivers with so-called heavy feet. (It is worth adding that the Modłowa–Cieszkowskiego intersection is one of the most accident-prone junctions in the City of Ceramics.) This type of “radar” has also been installed in other places around our country.
If it was intended as something else, we ask the person who came up with the idea to contact the editorial office.
