The matter was raised during the October session of the Bolesławiec County Council. County head Tomasz Gabrysiak said in his report:
After reviewing the application from the Platforma Samorządowa councilors’ club, signed by the club’s chairman, Karol Stasik, to posthumously award Ms. Danuta Maślicka the title Distinguished for Bolesławiec County, it was decided to undertake measures aimed at preparing the resolution procedure concerning the regulations for awarding the title Distinguished for Bolesławiec County.
Let us recall. In September, we reported that Danuta Maślicka had died. She held a doctorate in the humanities and was a longtime teacher and director of the Bolesławiec Cultural Center, as well as a poet, writer and, during the communist era, an activist of NSZZ “Solidarity.” The final farewell to the resident of Bolesławiec who had rendered distinguished service to the city was a public ceremony. Danuta Maślicka was bid farewell by her family, closest friends, and representatives of the city and county.
The Bolesławiec resident was honored “for outstanding services to democratic change in Poland, for achievements in local-government work and activities benefiting local communities.” In 2015, Bronisław Komorowski presented Danuta Maślicka with a state distinction at the Presidential Palace, as well as certificates for the 25 Years of Self-Government Civic Award, recognizing her longtime commitment to serving the local community.
