A children’s activity involving dressing up as characters from cartoons and films, followed by collecting sweets and all kinds of candy from residents of nearby homes.
For adults, it is equally great fun, as themed parties and get-togethers are usually organised on this day. For young people and not only them, it is an ideal opportunity to dance and try “spooky” drinks.
The main symbol is a hollowed-out, illuminated pumpkin with bared teeth, which usually decorates the porches and gardens of homes.
We do not know the exact origins of this event, but we suspect that its history began with the festival marking the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, known in Ireland as SAMHAIN. Some people associate this day with the barbaric sacrifice of human beings. Fortunately, modern Halloween has nothing to do with harming others and is associated only with terribly great FUN.
This year’s terribly great fun will take place at Bowling Bolesławiec at 2 Popiełuszki Square. The organisers decided that one day was definitely not enough, so HALLOWEEN WEEK will run from 24 to 31 October!
During this fantastic celebration, you can look forward to delicious alcoholic drinks in a Halloween style. The icing on the cake will be decorations prepared by Lokalne Wiedźmy themselves.
What do you think about Halloween celebrations in Bolesławiec?
