The incident occurred on Monday (October 3) at the 129th kilometer of the A4 motorway, between Kostomłoty and Kąty Wrocławskie (the lane toward Wrocław, near the village of Piotrowice). At around 8:00 a.m., US Army vehicles that were reportedly carrying, among other things, artillery shells collided there.
According to preliminary information, the driver of a US Army military vehicle failed to exercise due caution and rear-ended a civilian truck traveling in front of it. A second US Army vehicle then collided with the military vehicle.
One US Army soldier was injured in the incident. Major traffic jams are forming at the scene.
The damaged vehicles are stopped on the emergency lane, but the entire motorway is to be closed to traffic during the transfer of the cargo. It is difficult to say at this point exactly when this will happen and how long it will take.
As reported by 24jgora.pl:
Because the vehicles were carrying explosive materials, the motorway will probably be closed in both directions for the duration of the cargo transfer, and the length of the disruptions is not yet known. This is very important information for drivers traveling toward Wrocław on the A4 motorway today.
