At Primary School No. 4, six classes took part in Laboratoria Przyszłości workshops. The classes focused on artificial intelligence and its programming, as well as 3D printing. During the artificial intelligence class, the students considered whether they would like to be taught by a robot. The students’ answer was negative. They preferred their female teachers to continue conducting the lessons. During the classes organized as part of Laboratoria Przyszłości, the students eagerly asked questions, actively participated in the interactive lesson and also took the opportunity to share their opinions about the latest technology.
Laboratoria Przyszłości is an educational initiative implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science in cooperation with the GovTech Center at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The Bolesławiec school on Bielska Street was selected by the Education Superintendent’s Office to conduct unique workshops there as part of Laboratoria Przyszłości.
At the end of 2021, Bolesławiec’s municipal budget received PLN 798,600 for implementing this program. The financial support obtained was allocated to modern equipment, including 3D printers with accessories, microcontrollers with sensors, amplifiers, prototyping boards and other accessories, recording equipment (cameras, microphones, lighting, etc.) and soldering stations (for microcontrollers).
Laboratoria Przyszłości is not yet operating in Bolesławiec schools. First, the fulfillment of equipment orders took a long time, then the renovation and preparation of rooms for laboratories, and now there is a shortage of qualified teachers to conduct such classes. After the pilot classes at Primary School No. 4, conducted by specialists from Laboratoria Przyszłości, it is clear that the children have a great need and desire to participate in such classes. However, they will still have to wait for the laboratories and their implementation. How long? We do not know, because according to the plans, September 1, 2022, was supposed to be the final deadline for introducing these classes. The rooms for conducting Laboratoria Przyszłości workshops have been prepared at the Primary School on Bielska Street. The Laboratoria Przyszłości classes are to be held as additional interest clubs.
