Officers from the Lower Silesian and Opole Customs and Tax Offices broke up an organized criminal group involved in illegal gambling. – The so-called casinos were located in Legnica, Głogów, Polkowice, Lubin, Prochowice, Osła and Spalona – lists Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, press spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS.
She adds:
A total of 127 Customs and Tax Service officers took part in the operation. Five people were arrested and charged with participation in an organized criminal group, for which they face a prison sentence of between 3 months and 5 years.

- As a result of the operation, Customs and Tax Service officers from the Lower Silesian and Opole KAS seized:
- approximately PLN 500,000 in cash in Polish and foreign currencies,
- 50 pieces of gold jewelry and 6 luxury watches worth approximately PLN 120,000,
- property belonging to the suspects worth PLN 2.5 million was secured.
Four of those arrested were placed under police supervision and required to provide a financial guarantee. They also received a “ban on conducting activities aimed at organizing games on gambling, logical or strategic machines.” The prosecutor filed a motion with the court for the temporary detention of the fifth suspect.

Organizing illegal gambling games is punishable by a fine, imprisonment of up to 3 years, or both penalties. If this offense is made a permanent source of income, the court may impose a sentence of up to 4 years and 6 months in prison.
She also adds:
Both the organizer of illegal games and the owner of the premises where illegal gambling is conducted face a fine of PLN 100,000 for each illegal machine.
