On 2 September 2022, the National Technical Rescue Firefighters Competition was held at the Sports and Entertainment Hall in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. Representatives of technical rescue groups from individual voivodeships, as well as firefighters from fire service schools, competed. The Lower Silesian Voivodeship was represented by a group of firefighters from the Technical Rescue Group in Bolesławiec.
County Headquarters of the State Fire Service:
The events in this unusual competition involved carrying out practical technical rescue tasks, mainly those encountered during road accidents. The scenarios were based on previously prepared assumptions that recreated real incidents and accidents on the roads.
The uniformed officers add:
However, the competition was not held solely to select the best State Fire Service unit in the country. Its main purpose was to improve a range of rescue activities, such as securing the operational area, evacuating casualties from vehicles and providing qualified first aid. The group that correctly completed all the activities under the supervision of judges—including the use of innovative rescue techniques—in the shortest time received the highest number of points. The experience exchanged during the competition by firefighters from Technical Rescue Groups and fire service schools from across the country will also contribute to further improving the organisation of rescue operations and will be reflected in training for Volunteer Fire Service members.
The winner was the team from the Central School of the State Fire Service in Częstochowa. The Bolesławiec uniformed officers took seventh place in the overall classification.
