The incident occurred on Saturday, 3 August. Volunteer firefighters from Nowogrodziec:
(...) at 05:58 we were dispatched to a fire involving straw bales in Gierałtów. Upon arrival at the scene, we immediately deployed two water jets together with the Gierałtów Volunteer Fire Department.
They also add:
The fire had engulfed approximately 10% of the pile of bales. After extinguishing the fire, we and the other crews began pulling out the burning bales using fire hooks. This made it possible to save the remaining stored straw.
The danger was eliminated and, fortunately, no one was hurt. Firefighters from Nowogrodziec, Gierałtów, Wykroty and Bolesławiec took part in the operation, which lasted nearly two hours.
