– Bolesławiec operational police officers, based on the information they had gathered, identified and arrested the suspects in the case just a few hours after the burglary – reports Staff Sergeant Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer for the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.

The crime itself took place on 30 August, during the night, in the Warta Bolesławiecka municipality. The suspects broke into a container at an automatic level-crossing signalling system, belonging to PKP, and stole eight batteries. The spokesperson:

That same day, police officers arrested two men suspected of committing the burglary. At the time of their arrest, the residents of Bolesławiec County were sitting in a parked car they had used to travel to the crime scenes. In the vehicle’s boot, officers secured property originating from the nighttime burglary.

What is more, the arrested men will also answer for another crime committed to the detriment of PKP. The officers: – On 29 August, the same perpetrators stole four batteries, which they had already managed to sell at a non-ferrous metal scrapyard. The officers reached the scrapyard owner and secured another part of the property.

All the batteries were recovered. The thieves now face up to 10 years in prison. The older of the arrested men will also be charged with driving a car twice despite a court-imposed driving ban.
