Book plot summary
Young dentist Maksymilian Rajczakowski travels to the Karkonosze Mountains to get away from family problems, unaware of the secrets lying dormant in the mountains’ wartime past. Will he find what he is truly looking for? The owner of the disused Nad Śnieżnymi Kotłami shelter dies in an unfortunate accident. Shortly after the tragedy, his nephew Maksymilian arrives at the site. The man learns that, before his death, his uncle had been investigating, for unclear reasons, the history of another mountain shelter that burned down in unexplained circumstances just after the Second World War. As more facts come to light, Rajczakowski begins to suspect that his uncle’s death was not an unfortunate accident. Unaware of the danger lurking in wait, he starts his own investigation. Soon he begins receiving threats from someone claiming to be the Mountain Spirit... If he does not solve the mystery in time, he will be in mortal danger. The Shelter That Ceased to Exist opens a series of novels devoted to the Karkonosze Mountains. These crime novels are suspenseful and marked by family secrets, as well as a riddle-filled journey along forgotten trails of the past.
