Update at 13:41

As established by the Bolesławiec police, the driver of a Mazda, a 55-year-old resident of Racibórz County, was travelling with a female passenger when he failed to adjust his speed to the road conditions. As a result, he lost control of the vehicle and hit crash barriers. Both the driver and the passenger were taken to hospital for examinations.

Both sustained injuries requiring less than seven days to heal. (The incident was therefore classified as a collision.) The 55-year-old was fined PLN 1,500.

The incident occurred on Thursday, 18 August. Volunteer firefighters from Krzyżowa:

(...) at 6:18 a.m. we were dispatched to a passenger-car accident on kilometre 56 of the A4 motorway in the direction of Wrocław.

They added:

At the scene, it turned out that a passenger car had hit the barriers on the motorway overpass. The people travelling in the car were taken by the emergency medical team for examinations.

Firefighters from Bolesławiec, Krzyżowa and Różyniec participated in the operation, along with an emergency medical team and the police. The latter are determining the causes and circumstances of the incident.
