Since the fire at the waste-processing plant in Osła began, the Specialist Chemical and Ecological Rescue Group of the State Fire Service from Wrocław has been measuring the impact of the smoke on the health and lives of residents. The group informed us that, despite the unpleasant smell, the air around the site is fine and poses no threat to residents. Measurements are being carried out on an ongoing basis.
The tasks of the Wrocław group include, among other things: limiting the impact of hazardous materials on the surroundings, collecting samples, identifying contaminated areas, forecasting the development of the situation and the threat, monitoring, dynamically assessing risk, and detecting chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear contamination.
