The “Senior Support Corps” Programme is addressed to residents of Nowogrodziec municipality aged 65 and over, who have difficulties functioning independently due to their health, run their own households or live with relatives who are unable to provide them with sufficient care in everyday life.
As part of the project, seniors will be provided with access to so-called safety bands equipped with at least three of the following functions:
- safety button – SOS signal,
- functions enabling communication with the service centre and caregivers,
- functions monitoring basic vital signs (pulse and blood oxygen saturation),
- GPS locator,
- fall detector,
- band removal sensor.
Municipality: – As part of the Programme, during the period from August 2022 to December 2022, 50 people will be provided with free access to so-called safety bands. The safety band will be connected to a 24-hour Monitoring Centre, providing a sense of security not only to the Senior but also to their family. It enables safer and more comfortable functioning in the local community.
In the event of a difficult situation or a sudden threat to life, pressing the SOS alarm button located on the band will enable contact with a dispatcher (a paramedic, medical caregiver or nurse), who will decide how to provide assistance to the senior. Depending on the situation, the senior may request intervention from someone in their immediate surroundings (family, neighbours or caregivers), an employee of the Social Welfare Centre (e.g. a social worker), or call the emergency services.
The project is implemented by Nowogrodziec Municipality – the Municipal and Communal Social Welfare Centre in Nowogrodziec.
