We are receiving reports from readers about a traffic-jammed bypass in Bolesławiec. The jam already begins on DK 94, near Kruszyn, in the direction of Bolesławiec. In Bolesławiec, the bypass is congested westbound. Traffic is also heavier in the city centre, as some transit drivers are travelling along Tysiąclecia Avenue towards the centre.
What is causing such traffic jams?
This time, the traffic jams are not caused by the motorway being blocked because of an accident. Roadworks are being carried out on the A4 towards Germany. Multi-kilometre traffic jams are forming on the motorway towards the border.
The roadworks, road workers explain, involve removing the surface in places where concrete slabs have cracked and replacing them with new slabs. They will be carried out in stages along approximately 10 km between the Krzyżowa and Krzywa interchanges. First, the works will be conducted on the carriageway towards Zgorzelec, and will then move to the carriageway towards Wrocław.
GDDKiA:
One lane will be closed on the section where the works are being carried out, and the speed limit will be reduced to 40 km/h.
Some drivers are using national road 94 through Bolesławiec to avoid the disruptions.
Work on the A4 will continue until the end of July. The road administrator is appealing to drivers to exercise caution.
