The programme is financed by the COVID-19 Counteracting Fund. It is addressed to Bolesławiec residents aged 65 and over who have difficulties functioning independently due to their health, live alone, or live with relatives who are unable to provide them with sufficient care in their daily lives.
As part of the programme, from June to December 2022, 130 people will be provided with free access to so-called safety wristbands.
The safety wristband will be connected to a 24-hour monitoring centre, providing a sense of security not only to the senior but also to their family. It enables safer and more comfortable functioning in one’s local environment.
How does the wristband work?
In the event of a difficult situation or a sudden threat to life, pressing the alarm button on the wristband will enable contact with a dispatcher—a paramedic, medical carer or nurse—who will decide how to provide assistance to the senior.
Depending on the situation, the dispatcher may ask someone from the senior’s immediate surroundings—family, neighbours or carers—to intervene, contact a social welfare centre employee, such as a social worker or community care worker, or call the emergency services.
The programme is implemented by the Municipal Social Welfare Centre in Bolesławiec (7 Cicha Street).
