At night between Saturday and Sunday (May 21/22), someone doused the windowsill of an apartment on Gdańska Street with a foul-smelling substance.
“A terrible stench woke me up at night. I couldn’t fall asleep. I looked behind the furniture, everywhere. The smell was coming from the window. Finally, after 2:00 p.m., I went outside to smell the windowsill. It was a terrible stench. There were stains from some substance under the windowsill,” says the affected woman.
The police and fire brigade were called to the scene. Firefighters collected samples and washed away the substance.
“It was a wild boar repellent. That is how the substance was identified by a chemical response team from Legnica. Despite washing the substance off the windowsill and walls, the smell will remain. And for a long time,” says Piotr Pilarczyk of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec.
“I read online that it can stink for a year, or even two. It was certainly done by someone who knows me, someone from Gdańska Street. That’s what I suspect,” the upset woman adds. “I asked MZGM about temporary accommodation while the smell is being removed, but they replied that they had none.”
For now, the woman and her two children (aged 7 and 14) are staying with a friend.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the case should notify the police.
