– Officers from the Joint Polish-German Facility in Ludwigsdorf, while on duty with KAS officers, selected and stopped a goods van for inspection – reports Major of the Border Guard Joanna Konieczniak, press spokesperson for the Nadodrze Border Guard Unit. – During the inspection of the vehicle, officers discovered 1,300 kilograms of cut tobacco inside, worth nearly 975,000 zlotys.
The tobacco was packed in cardboard boxes and was to be transported from Belgium to Latvia via Germany, Poland and Lithuania. The spokesperson said: – The van driver, a 21-year-old Latvian citizen, was detained for transporting goods that had not been reported in the SENT system (Electronic Transport Monitoring System). He also did not have the required documents concerning this matter.
Further proceedings in this case are being conducted by officers of the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office.
