The Library and Librarian Day falls on 8 May. On this occasion, Biblioteka Pedagogiczna w Bolesławcu is announcing a campaign for everyone who is late returning books. Anyone who returns the overdue books during the campaign will avoid the statutory fine. Outstanding unpaid charges will also be cancelled, even if the books have already been returned. The amnesty for all forgetful readers will last throughout May.

Over the past five years, the Library has had 357 debtors. The institution’s employees charge 30 groszy per overdue book for each week of delay. Persistent debtors receive written reminders at their home addresses. Every reader signs an undertaking to comply with the institution’s regulations and is informed of the permitted period for using borrowed books. What is more, when the agreed return date passes, it is possible to extend it. Library employees do everything they can to ensure that readers are satisfied. The May campaign is an excellent opportunity to settle all outstanding obligations without consequences. We will all benefit from it.

The Library strives to ensure the broadest possible access to books. Another way of responding to readers’ expectations is the project Multimedialnego Centrum Informacji Pedagogicznej i Bibliotecznej. The institution is currently undergoing modernization. The project, which includes the creation of 25 additional computer workstations, among other things, is scheduled for completion in late autumn 2010.

Those who have not visited the Library for a long time may wish to be reminded that it is located in the I LO building, at 11 Tyrankiewiczów Street.
