Volunteer Fire Department in Krzyżowa:

Dear Sirs and Madams! We are pleased to inform you that, by decision of the Chief Commander of the State Fire Service, effective 1 May 2022, our unit has been incorporated into the National Rescue and Firefighting System.

By the same decision, another unit from our county was incorporated into the National Rescue and Firefighting System: OSP Warta Bolesławiecka.

What is the National Rescue and Firefighting System?

The National Rescue and Firefighting System (KSRG) is an integral part of the country’s internal security organization. It is a system designed to save lives, protect health, property and the environment, and to forecast, identify and combat fires, natural disasters and other local hazards.

The system brings together fire protection units, other services, inspectorates, uniformed services, institutions and entities that have voluntarily agreed, by means of a civil-law agreement, to cooperate in rescue operations.

The primary objective of the National Rescue and Firefighting System is to ensure the protection of life, health, property and the environment through actions undertaken by the State Fire Service and other rescue entities, with particular emphasis on volunteer fire departments, by means of:

  • fighting fires,
  • eliminating local hazards (rescue operations),
  • chemical and environmental rescue,
  • technical rescue,
  • medical rescue involving the provision of qualified first aid (KPP).

The operational readiness of the National Rescue and Firefighting System’s forces and resources—in particular their availability, training and rescue equipment—enables them to be dispatched urgently according to the protected-area criterion, meaning the forces and resources necessary to eliminate or limit an emerging sudden threat and capable of reaching the scene in the shortest possible time.
