Officers of the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec have been receiving reports for several months concerning fraud related to selling various items online. Instead of receiving payment from a potential buyer, victims lose money from their own bank accounts.
Sellers receive a link that takes them to a website deceptively similar to the classifieds service, or they receive a message in the WhatsApp application. In order to receive the payment for the goods, they were required to provide their card number and other important information, which gave criminals easy access to their bank accounts and the ability to make a transfer.
Police officers warn against sharing personal data and information related to managing our funds online. Despite warnings to exercise caution during online transactions, various scams continue to occur, resulting in victims losing money.
Police officers from Bolesławiec remind us that criminals are also active online, constantly devising new ways to obtain money or data that facilitate access to bank accounts.
