The Kolej Plus Programme is aimed at local government units or metropolitan unions interested in developing their own railway infrastructure. The government plans to supplement the existing railway network with passenger connections to provincial capitals. This applies to towns with more than 10,000 inhabitants.

An important element of investment funding is taking residents’ transport needs into account. The modernization will cover towns that have access to railways but whose existing connections require improvements, such as passing loops or railway junctions. The programme is scheduled for completion in 2028.

Chancellery of the Prime Minister: – We are doubling the planned investments, thanks to which we will supplement further passenger connection networks. The aim of the programme is to continue eliminating transport exclusion. Numerous railway connections will enable comfortable travel throughout Poland and increase the attractiveness of many regions of our country.

– Rail travel is becoming fashionable again. And that is very good. I am very pleased about it. Railways are a means of transport that is safe, efficient, fast and environmentally friendly. It is very good that people are returning to travelling by rail – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
