Officers from the Joint Polish-German Post in Świecko inspected a car towing a trailer on Wednesday, 13 April. – The trailer was carrying a completely burned-out Mercedes-Benz G-Class. According to the opinion of the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Zielona Góra, the 35-year-old driver was transporting the burned-out wreck from Germany to Poland in violation of the applicable regulations – explains Major of the Border Guard Joanna Konieczniak, press spokesperson for the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit. – The driver was detained pursuant to a decision by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Słubice.
The Border Guard officers initiated criminal proceedings in the case. The 35-year-old Polish man was questioned as a suspect. He was charged with transporting waste from abroad in violation of regulations. The man pleaded guilty.
Further proceedings in the case are being conducted by border guards from Świecko. They determined that the value of the burned-out vehicle was €3,200.
The 35-year-old Polish man faces up to five years in prison.
