During the meeting, the president of the Wrocław branch of the Association of Veterans of UN Peacekeeping Missions, retired Col. Andrzej Lazarek, presented information about the several-decade history of Polish Army soldiers’ service in peacekeeping missions carried out under the auspices of the UN, while Association members and veterans of the 23rd Artillery Regiment shared their own experiences of participating in both UN and NATO missions. One of the speakers was the regiment’s chief of staff, Lt. Col. Paweł Jędryczka, a participant in many missions and a long-standing member of the aforementioned Association.

After the meeting, the veterans toured the Tradition Hall of the 23rd Artillery Regiment; they donated the Association’s medal to its collection and honored the regiment’s soldiers with commemorative medals, then familiarized themselves with the combat equipment used by the Bolesławiec regiment’s subunits. Taking advantage of their visit to Bolesławiec, they also visited a ceramics manufactory.

The visit concluded with a meeting with the regiment commander, Col. Krzysztof Malankiewicz, during which the artillery commander briefed the veterans on the tasks carried out by the regiment and thanked them for initiating an intergenerational exchange of “mission” experiences.
