Since the beginning of the month, officers serving in the new police car have detected dozens of traffic violations committed by drivers on the roads of Lwówek district. It should be noted that, under the Road Traffic Act, police officers are required to confiscate the driving licence of a driver who exceeds the speed limit by more than 50 km/h in a built-up area. This was the case with two drivers stopped by officers last weekend.
On Friday (April 8, 2022), at approximately 10 p.m. in Chmieleń, police officers stopped a 23-year-old Opel driver who was travelling at 96 km/h where the limit was 40 km/h. On Saturday (April 9, 2022), in Pasiecznik, they stopped a 46-year-old man driving a Ford who had been travelling at 108 km/h.
Both men lost their driving licences for three months. They were also fined and received 10 penalty points.
Police officers appeal for responsible driving. Excessive speed is one of the most common causes of road accidents.
