– We have this answer! And in the coming days and weeks, there will be discussion of it, and it will be presented to the public. And this is the great change – Jarosław Kaczyński said in Warsaw. He called the twelfth anniversary of the Smolensk disaster "the twelfth anniversary of a crime and an assassination attempt".
– Yes, there was an interest, Moscow's interest! This places one more task before us, for which we will meet at marches: on the anniversary of 10 April and before 11 November. The question concerns responsibility for this crime: how those who made the decision and those who carried it out should be treated. Here in Poland, but also there in Russia – Kaczyński said.
Let us recall that the Smolensk disaster was investigated by two teams of experts, one governmental and the other prosecutorial. They unequivocally ruled out the possibility of an assassination attempt.
According to the findings of Jerzy Miller's commission, the main causes of the disaster were descending below the minimum altitude at an excessive rate of descent, fog preventing visibility of the runway, and a delayed go-around. – Factors related to the operation of the airport in Smolensk were also identified – the transmission to the aircraft crew, by the landing zone manager, of information that the aircraft was correctly positioned in relation to the beginning of the runway, the glide path and the course, even though the aircraft was outside the permissible deviation zone – Jerzy Miller said in an interview with wp.pl.
