On Saturday, 2 April, after a scheduled flight from Athens landed, Border Guard officers from Wrocław Airport detained a 32-year-old citizen of the Republic of the Congo. – The reason for his detention was that, during the inspection, he presented officers with a forged French residence card made to resemble the original – reports Major of the Border Guard Joanna Konieczniak, press spokesperson for the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit.

She adds: – The foreign national was questioned as a suspect and charged with illegally crossing the state border by deception and using a forged document during the inspection. The suspect confessed and voluntarily submitted to a sentence of six months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years. Moreover, an application was submitted to the court to place the 32-year-old in one of the guarded centres for foreigners.

Another foreign national fell into the hands of border guards on Sunday, 3 April. Border Guard Major J. Konieczniak:

The officers stopped a passenger car travelling towards Germany for inspection. Its driver was a 46-year-old Estonian citizen. During the inspection, the man presented a forged Finnish driving licence made to resemble the original.

It turned out that the Estonian citizen had bought the fake for EUR 2,000. Procedural actions are ongoing against him.
