The incident occurred on Monday, February 28, at approximately 4:00 p.m., at the exit from DK18, near Świętoszów. An ambulance collided there with an Opel Corsa passenger car.
After colliding with the ambulance, the Opel came to a stop in a roadside ditch. (A second ambulance arrived for the patient who was being transported in the ambulance).

According to the police:
The ambulance, traveling with its emergency signals on, was passing a column of stationary vehicles and struck the first vehicle in the column, which was turning left. The passenger-car driver was taken to hospital.
The man sustained serious injuries, and the incident was classified as an accident.
