Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki:
Today, following numerous medical consultations and observing what is happening in other countries, we can recommend far-reaching changes. A significant part of all the restrictions that have been in force so far can be lifted. These are restrictions that have accompanied us for many months.
The head of government added that the changes being introduced had been consulted with the COVID-19 Council. From March 1, most restrictions will be lifted, while those that are necessary will remain.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on the new rules and restrictions
Lifting some restrictions from March 1
From March 1 some of the safety rules that have been in force so far will be lifted. What will change? All limits on the number of people will cease to apply, including in shops, restaurants, cultural venues and public transport, as well as during gatherings and events. Discos, clubs and other venues made available for dancing will reopen.
Prime Minister Morawiecki announced that offices that have so far operated remotely would return to normal operations.
Important! From March 1, we will still have to comply with some restrictions. These include rules on wearing masks, isolation, quarantine for household members and quarantine upon arrival for people without a valid UCC.
- Covering the nose and mouth with a mask in enclosed spaces
Remember that you must wear a mask in places such as buses, shops and cinemas. Currently, the nose and mouth may be covered only with a mask. Scarves and face coverings are not permitted because they do not fulfill their basic function, namely protecting against the virus!

- Isolation in the event of COVID-19 infection
If you become ill, you will still have to undergo isolation. Isolation means separating a person infected with COVID-19 who has a positive test result.
Isolation lasts 7 days if you have not developed COVID-19 symptoms. A primary care physician may decide that it needs to be extended if your health requires it.
Different isolation rules apply if you work in a medical profession or are a soldier or officer. Your isolation lasts:
- 7 days (from the day the first positive SARS-CoV-2 test result is obtained),
- or 5 days (if the test performed no earlier than on the fifth day is negative).
You can read more about this on the website.
- Quarantine for a household member of a person infected with COVID-19
Quarantine is the isolation of a healthy person because of the risk of infection. This risk exists if you live with someone who is infected with the coronavirus.
If you live with a sick person, your quarantine lasts as long as the isolation of your household member.
For 30 days after the end of the illness, people who have completed isolation or hospitalization will not be placed under quarantine because they live with a person in isolation.
Importantly:
- if you are vaccinated and receive a negative test result, you will be released from quarantine,
- if you are unvaccinated, you may be released from quarantine if you receive a negative test result after the end of the isolation of the person you live with.
You can read more about this on the website.
- Quarantine upon arrival (for people without a valid UCC)
You are also subject to quarantine when returning from abroad (only if you do not have a valid UCC), and it lasts 7 days.

COVID-19 vaccination—the most effective weapon in the fight against the threatResponsible behavior and following safety rules are very important to protect ourselves from infection. However, COVID-19 vaccination is currently the most effective weapon that can protect us from severe illness and death.
We have now administered more than 53 million vaccinations. People who are fully vaccinated:
- aged 18+—65.6 percent
- aged 60+—76 percent
- aged 70+—77 percent

website.Be responsible. Follow the DDMA+W principle
Effective protection against the coronavirus is possible thanks to vaccinations, but also by following basic rules of conduct. Follow the DDMA+W principle, namely:
Distance
- Disinfection
- Mask
- STOP COVID—ProteGO Safe app
- Ventilation
- Maintaining a social distance of at least 1.5 m, washing and disinfecting hands frequently, and covering the mouth and nose are basic actions that help reduce the risk of coronavirus infection. It is also worth ventilating the rooms where we spend time frequently, especially at work and at home. The STOP COVID app also supports efforts to combat the threat. It is completely safe, free of charge and voluntary. The more people use it, the faster and more effectively we will limit the speed and spread of the coronavirus.
