On Sunday and Monday, military helicopters flew over Bolesławiec and Bolesławiec County (including over Wykroty, Zebrzydowa and Raciborowice), from the southwest toward the northeast.
A dozen or so military aircraft flew on Sunday. There were several of them on Monday. Where were they flying? These were American helicopters flying from bases in Germany, and their flight was connected with the international Saber Strike 22 exercises.
The polska-zbrojna.pl service reports:
1,300 Polish soldiers will take part in the “Saber Strike 2022” exercises, which began today in Żagań. The undertaking is organized by the United States Army. Its aim is to test the ability to rapidly redeploy troops from bases in Germany to eastern Poland and then to the Baltic states. Along the way, the subunits will conduct joint training in Bemowo Piskie.
– However, the most important element is the movement of the troops itself. The march will test the ability of Polish and U.S. forces to cooperate in this area, Major Busz admits. For the U.S. forces, however, the undertaking will not end there. After joint training at the training area, soldiers of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment will head toward Budzisko and cross the border into Lithuania. The next part of “Saber Strike 2022” will take place in the Baltic states.
As we read on the wojsko-polskie.pl website:
Saber Strike is an annual international tactical exercise with troops, held in Poland every two years, which prepares allies and partners to respond to regional crises and meet their own security needs by improving border security and countering threats.
The exercise is conducted in accordance with the 2022 exercise program of the Polish Armed Forces. Training events such as Saber Strike 22 are planned well in advance and are not connected with any current or ongoing operation.
Joint training for Polish soldiers and allied troops will take place at the training area in Bemowo Piskie. All activities on Polish territory are coordinated and directed by the Polish Armed Forces.
Approximately 1,300 soldiers from Poland will take part in the exercise: from the 17th Wielkopolska Mechanized Brigade, the 15th Giżycka Mechanized Brigade, the 1st Land Forces Aviation Brigade, the 3rd Air Defense Missile Brigade, the 4th Chemical Regiment, the 1st and 2nd Tactical Air Wings, as well as the Territorial Defense Forces.
