On Saturday, 27 March, a theatrical celebration took place at the Stanisław Wyspiański Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec. The theatre celebrations began with a happening by the group Tygrys Ogłuszony Domem. “It was my students’ debut. Preparations lasted a month. Every element was carefully considered from beginning to end,” says Urszula Frąszczak-Matyjewicz, the group’s supervisor. “I think the audience liked it.”
That day also featured an oriental dance performance by the group Accha Dil. Reciters from the Move group also presented their skills.
Next, the Sakura Marginis group performed at the MDK Gallery of Talents. The audience had an opportunity to see the performance “The Little Prince’s Rose,” combining elements of butoh dance, spoken theatre and cool dark ambient sounds. “We did not have much time to prepare. The whole thing came together very spontaneously,” says Piotr Larysz. “‘The Little Prince’ is one of my favourite books. I return to it regularly. One day, while reading the scene with the lamb for perhaps the umpteenth time and listening to music by, among others, Desiderii Marginis, I came up with the idea of combining these two things,” says Katarzyna Jewtuch. “The play ‘The Little Prince’s Rose’ grew out of this combination.”
The MOPA cabaret put the audience in a good mood, presenting, among other things, its own interpretations of sketches by Ani Mru-Mru.
The duo Pokojowy Roman (that is, Kinga Pokojowy and Grzegorz Roman) also appeared on stage, presenting the mini-performance “Various Stories.” “We usually present stories that are rather painful,” says Grzegorz Roman. “This performance is about how sometimes we stray from the right path. But it also happens that we then meet someone who guides us back onto the right track.”
The celebrations concluded with a performance by the fire theatre Garuda. Theatre lovers, however, have good news: the event is to be held regularly. “We want to preserve theatre traditions,” says Agnieszka Kisielowska of MDK.
