The incident occurred on Saturday, February 12. Officers from the Komenda Powiatowa Państwowej Straży Pożarnej w Bolesławcu:
[…] at 10:09 p.m., the Operations Command Station of the District Commander of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec received a report of a fire in an apartment on the second floor of a multi-family building on Wojska Polskiego Avenue in Bolesławiec. Upon the arrival of the Fire Protection Units, it was found that the staircase was filled with smoke and thick smoke was coming from the windows of one apartment. Some residents were outside the building. Firefighters received information from the building’s residents that an injured person might be inside the apartment where the fire had broken out.
What did the firefighters’ actions involve?
Officers:
The crews’ actions consisted of securing the scene, evacuating an injured woman from the burning apartment and providing her with qualified first aid (oxygen therapy was administered and thermal comfort was ensured).
A total of 35 residents were evacuated, and 4 people received medical assistance. (They were all handed over to emergency medical teams).
Firefighters: – After the firefighting operation was completed, the building was ventilated and charred furnishings from the apartment were removed.
Firefighters from Bolesławiec, Nowogrodziec, Ocice and Warta Bolesławiecka took part in the operation, along with emergency medical teams, the gas emergency service, the police and a representative of the building’s administrator.
