In January 2022, at the Michałowice Północ Traveller Service Area (MOP), officers of the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław, during routine inspections conducted on motorways to prevent crime, uncovered illegal cigarettes.

“During the search of a delivery van, 200,000 cigarettes worth PLN 147,400 and PLN 4,600 in cash were seized,” says Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, press spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS. “Shila, a German Shepherd trained to detect tobacco and drugs, took part in the discovery.”

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were detained, and illegal tobacco products without Polish excise-duty stamps were also secured.
