We greatly valued Ms Elżbieta for her erudition, knowledge of Polish history, sense of humour, and remarkably contemporary social and political views. We will miss Ms Elżbieta enormously.
Elżbieta Gizela Erban (1941–2022) was the great-granddaughter of Władysław Erban, who took part in the January Uprising. Her family’s rich and extraordinary history became the basis for the trilogy “Kochankowie Burzy”, covering this turbulent period in Poland’s history. The novel is set in the 19th century and also covers the period of the January Uprising. Elżbieta Erban was also the author of the trilogy “Fatalne zauroczenie”; the story is about a romance set against the backdrop of the turbulent 1950s and 1960s.
