As we read on the website of the Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec:
The SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic has changed our world and how it functions. Two years after its outbreak, we are still unable to analyse all its effects at the local, national and international levels. The pandemic has clearly affected attitudes towards security, including health security, crisis management, and the activities of state institutions and international organisations.
The authorities of the Institute of International Studies at the University of Wrocław, taking the initiative to expand the university’s cooperation with its external environment, signed a letter of intent with the Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec. The letter was signed by the director of the Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec, Kamil Barczyk, and the director of the Institute of International Studies, dr hab. prof. UWr Krzysztof Kociubiński.
What will the cooperation involve?
Healthcare Complex: “The discussions focused on joint theoretical and popular-science initiatives related to local security and, due to the location of the Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec, close to the Czech and German borders, on the concept of joint cross-border projects in the field of security education.”
It adds:
The cooperation also opens up the possibility of developing research and development work devoted to cooperation between healthcare and military units and society in tasks related to national defence and security.
The first project planned as part of the cooperation between the two institutions is to be a joint seminar. However, it will only be organised once the pandemic eases.
The authorities of the Bolesławiec facility are thus focusing on exchanging experience and emphasise that this cooperation has great potential. Thanks to it—and drawing on the experience of the Healthcare Complex—it may be possible to redefine the concept of security in healthcare.
