Landfills are storage sites for expired plant protection products, pharmaceutical products and radioactive materials. Their elimination has been underway since 1999. The county governor, Cezary Przybylski, makes no secret of his satisfaction at signing the agreement with the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. “The road to concluding this agreement was very long, mainly because of the enormous investment costs,” says Przybylski.

The marshal received a promise that the full costs of eliminating the landfill would be covered with funds from the National and Voivodeship Funds for Environmental Protection and Water Management. “The costs could reach as much as millions of złoty,” the county governor adds.

The landfill in Iwiny (Warta Bolesławiecka commune), covered with soil and grass, is invisible to an ordinary person. Between 1975 and 1977, plant protection products withdrawn from commercial circulation were stored there. Their estimated quantity is 108 tons.
