A conference on the construction of the second stage of the Bolesławiec bypass has taken place. Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Cezary Przybylski:

Good news not only for the residents of Bolesławiec, but for all users of road 297. A long-awaited investment.

He added:

I would like to sincerely thank both the mayor of the City of Bolesławiec and the head of Bolesławiec Municipality. These two local governments will cover 20% of the investment.

Why are local government officials so eager to see this bypass built?

  • It will improve transport accessibility.
  • It will connect the investment areas of Bolesławiec Municipality and the City of Bolesławiec.
  • Above all, it will relieve the centre of Bolesławiec of through traffic, especially heavy traffic.
  • The safety of road users—both drivers and pedestrians—will improve.

Member of Parliament Szymon Pogoda: “This is an investment that is very necessary for us, for all the residents of Bolesławiec and the entire Bolesławiec region. I am very pleased that this decision has been made and that funding for this investment will be allocated.”

He also noted:

I congratulate the marshal on his effectiveness. I thank Mayor Piotr Roman, who worked for years to secure the implementation of this investment; the head of the municipality and the county governor. I am very pleased that within the next few years, the residents of Bolesławiec, all residents of Bolesławiec County—and not only them—will be able to use the new infrastructure.

Bolesławiec County Governor Tomasz Gabrysiak:

We are all aware that a significant proportion of the people working in industrial zones throughout the county are commuters from neighbouring counties: Lwówek, Lubań, Złotoryja and parts of Lubusz Voivodeship. Everything indicates that this traffic will increase, so this missing section of the Bolesławiec bypass will help ensure that everyone travelling to work or school can reach their destination safely.

He added:

This bypass will relieve municipal, local, county and voivodeship roads. Above all, it will divert lorries from lower-category roads.

Bolesławiec City Secretary Jerzy Zieliński:

I have a very personal connection with this road. Since 2006, I have appealed to “everyone under the sun” to have this road built. It fulfils one of Europe’s important objectives: connecting regions. I would say that Lubusz Voivodeship is ahead of us when it comes to road quality. Once the second stage of the Bolesławiec bypass is completed, we will catch up with Lubusz Voivodeship.

He added: “Bolesławiec is waiting.”

Detailed information below:

What will it provide?

The planned 5.9-kilometre section will connect voivodeship road 297 with voivodeship road 94 towards the Krzywa interchange and, via the existing section of Bolesławiec’s south-eastern bypass, with voivodeship road 363 towards Złotoryja. The total cost of the investment will be approximately PLN 65 million. The bypass construction will receive 60% funding, or more than PLN 38.7 million, under the Government Road Development Programme (the programme for building 100 bypasses in 2020–2030). The municipalities, the city and the voivodeship will provide a total of 40% in own contributions.

“The bypass will provide convenient access from the A4 motorway to towns south and east of Bolesławiec without having to travel through the city centre. It will therefore significantly divert traffic away from the city and improve the safety of its residents,” explains Tymoteusz Myrda, member of the Board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

The second stage of the bypass will connect with the first stage of the route, built in 2018. It will run from the roundabout in Kruszyn to Łąka. The route will cross municipal and county roads as well as a railway line. The first stage of the Bolesławiec bypass opened in 2018. The 4-kilometre section connected national road 94 with the renovated DW 297 towards Lwówek Śląski. The investment cost PLN 30.6 million.
