Very often, guests are unable to eat everything we have prepared, and, not wanting to waste food, we decide to send our loved ones home with their hands full of sweets. How can you pack a cake properly so that it survives transport? We have prepared the answer to this and several other questions in the article below.
Disposable cake packaging
“It may not look as good anymore, but the taste hasn’t changed” – to avoid having to use this excuse again, you should focus on packing your precious baked creation as safely as possible. To make sure that the cake does not change its shape during transport, it is best to use plastic cake containers, which can withstand even considerable crushing force. This solution is good, but unfortunately has its drawbacks. Plastic containers cannot be folded, so they take up a great deal of valuable space on the kitchen counter or in cupboards, and unless we are huge enthusiasts of making sweet creations every day, the container will only be taken out a few times a year. Disposable cake packaging made of cardboard is often used by bakeries to pack sweet baked goods. Not everyone knows, however, that they can also be purchased in smaller quantities for home use. By securing the cake in this simple way, we can be sure that it will survive transport.
How to pack a cake in paper?
Food paper, also known as parchment, is another popular way to protect various baked goods. We can often come across this simple type of packaging even in confectioneries. However, you should bear in mind that ordinary paper, even when combined with a cardboard tray, will not be the best way to protect a delicate cake. It is, however, a very good way to bring a baked good home from a shop or carry it there carefully. If we want to share our sweets with guests at a party, packing them in this way will certainly allow us to transport them safely to our own refrigerator, but guests should be told to handle the package gently. Paper has many advantages, but remember that it gets wet easily, so soaked cakes or those with a large amount of cream are better placed in a plastic pastry box.
How to pack a cake as a gift?
Handmade gifts always have the greatest value, which becomes even greater when our gift is entirely edible and delicious as well. A carefully packaged, homemade cake is not a banal gift idea and will certainly bring a smile to the recipient’s face. To pack and simultaneously protect the baked good from accidents, it is best to use cardboard cake packaging, which can additionally be decorated with a nice dedication or wishes written with a marker.
