– The Lower Silesian KAS has been conducting operations to combat illegal gambling throughout the year. In 2021, officers of the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław inspected 80 locations in Lower Silesia. At the inspected premises, they uncovered as many as 367 illegal gambling machines and cash amounting to nearly PLN 326,000 – says Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, press spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS.
She adds:
In December 2021 alone, 27 illegal gambling machines and cash amounting to more than PLN 30,000 were uncovered at premises located in Oleśnica County, Środa County, and the cities of Jelenia Góra and Głogów.
The secured equipment and money were retained as evidence in the case and transferred to a deposit warehouse.
“Gambling? Don’t let yourself get hooked!”
The problem of illegal gambling has been known to employees and officers of the Lower Silesian KAS for many years. They note that increasingly younger people are among the players. In response to the need to counter gambling, the third edition of the nationwide educational campaign of the National Revenue Administration, under the slogan “Gambling? Don’t let yourself get hooked!”, was launched in the 2021/2022 school year. The campaign aims to make society aware that gambling is dangerous and can destroy family life, financial stability and health.
From October to December 2021, employees of the Tax Administration Chamber in Wrocław and officers of the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław visited 42 schools; they were present in more than 250 classes and met nearly 5,500 students in Lower Silesia.
