Before clicking, read the warnings and the information published on popular auction portals!
How does it work?
A private individual posts an offer to sell an item, such as a telephone, on an auction portal. After some time, a purchase offer arrives via their private messenger. Naturally, this message contains a LINK that deceptively resembles a genuine link from the auction website.
What happens next?
When you click on it, malicious software may be installed on your device, and if you follow the instructions in its content, the perpetrators of this crime will probably take over your confidential data, and you may lose funds from your account.
What is the situation with the SMS you received?
Very similar! That is why you should never provide or enter such data on a website received via a link in an email, messenger or, precisely, an SMS.
Scammers send text messages stating that a usually symbolic additional payment must be made, for example, for an expected parcel. The message contains a link supposedly allowing you to view the details, but in reality it redirects you to a fake bank website.
Ultimately, funds available in the victims’ private bank accounts disappear.
What should you do?
Be more careful and do not forward messages of this type!
